When you apply for admission to the BA in Theatre Education you must submit an essay and a theatrical résumé to the Department of Performing Arts. You will be able to complete your essay and upload your résumé using StageDoor once you have received your Emerson ID.

The Résumé

All performing arts applicants must submit a theatrical résumé which may include, but is not limited to, your experience in:

  • Producing
  • Directing
  • Acting
  • Music (singing, instruments played, conducting, composing)
  • Dance
  • House/Stage Management
  • Marketing/Publicity
  • Design (for any design aspect of a production)
  • Technical run crews
  • Writing achievements/publications
  • Classes, workshops, special training
  • Awards/Commendations

The Essay

Your essay for Theatre Education should describe one key theatrical experience, either onstage, backstage, in a classroom, or in an audience, that has motivated you in your pursuit of a degree in theatre education, and outline how Emerson’s program would help you achieve your long-term professional goals (500-700 words).
